Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation (SCI)
Who we serve
Our SCI program is designed for individuals with traumatic or non-traumatic injuries to the spinal cord (cervical, thoracic, lumbar) who are seeking movement restoration, functional improvement, independence in daily activities, and community reintegration. We welcome clients with incomplete injuries (AIS B, C, D) as well as those further along in their recovery journey.
Our approach
- Comprehensive neuro-rehabilitation: We integrate evidence-based therapies including neuromuscular electrical stimulation, task-specific training (gait, transfers, upper limb) and assistive technology.
- Interdisciplinary care: Our team of PTs, OTs, neuro-specialists and support staff collaborate to create individualized plans.
- Patient & family education: We provide training, resources and ongoing support to clients and their families so everyone can participate in the rehabilitation journey.
- Bridge to community: Our goal extends beyond the clinic walls — we help clients translate gains into real-world settings: home, work, recreation.
Spotlight: ARC-EX® Therapy
What is ARC-EX®?
- ARC-EX® is an externally applied transcutaneous electrical stimulation system designed to deliver programmed stimulation to the cervical spinal cord in conjunction with functional task-practice for individuals with chronic, incomplete spinal cord injury. - Its indicated use (US) is: for individuals 18–75 years old with a chronic (non-progressive) incomplete SCI at C2–C8, to improve hand sensation and strength when paired with functional rehabilitation. ONWARD Medical
- A pivotal global clinical trial (“Up-LIFT”) published in Nature Medicine demonstrated that: ~72% of participants met minimally important difference criteria for both strength and functional performance of the upper limbs after ARC EX therapy; ~90% improved in at least one strength or functional outcome.
